why? I don't see the logic. Kids are a burden, which still falls mostly on the women's shoulders. A rise in living standards leads to lower births.

In Japan in the space of only a few years, single child households have rapidly become the norm (1,21 birthrate).

The less kids, the more careful the choice and higher the investment for that one kid is going to be. (so yes expect CRISPR etc).
