And ps, the problem is not the technology itself. It never is. It's us. The unsafe social system we have constructed in which these developments take place in light of our still rather primitive psychology.

The Amish seem to have taken the latter as a given and limited the tools available for harming ourselves. But personally, I'd much rather see the former being improved. How can we become far more enlightened apes? And thus able to wield far more sophisticated tools without the constant risk of self-annihilation.
