There is one option I have not yet seen on the table:

Europe steps out of NATO to form its own army.

Putin's grudge (as was former French president De Gaul's) is against US military presence on European soil. The entire equation changes if the US are out.

If we want to give peace a real chance, we should take this option seriously.
