That's the nail whom's head you should have hit on more (gone into greater detail). Because the worship capitalism is very similar to the worship of god Baʿal Hammon.... In the '50s a family could be raised on a single salary but now, as we have become far more orthodox (TINA bulls**t), it takes both partners full-time.
The question is where is the bulk of that money going? And what life are we buying ourselves with the leftovers?
Especially once you start to realise that capitalistic exploitation was never set up to provide us with the essentials to have a good life. From the Blue Zones, regions where people live longer and better than average, Machteld Huber distilled four governing parameters:
- eat mainly fresh, unprocessed, local, seasonal foods, - lead an active, natural, physical life (walking, gardening, etc.),
- live with a sense of purpose,
- be part of a community.
- I've added a 5th, live in a healthy environment.
Capitalism serves us NONE of these fundamental human objectives... so why do we still insist on slaving ourselves to this clearly false god? Are we really all that stupid?
'Lying flat', or tang ping in Chinese is not the answer because you remain part of the system. But stepping sideways (building in parallel intentional eco- and human-oriented communities) is.
