That would mean going against human nature: our deeply engrained loss aversion bias.

I don't see that happening. Mankind has never been known for long term thinking. Only when a person is directly faced with immediate and very personal harm does that person finally come into action. So well after the fact. We like to muddle through acute problems. Climate change is not yet acute for many.

Only those with little to (yet) lose are sometimes more open to new roads. Like these young women>

Perhaps, for a transition period, society should limit all voting rights to those 40 years and younger... Only then can we change our societies in time.
