Google the amazing list of human heuristics & biases, add a pinch of laziness, greed, and ego into this decision making mix...and you get, indeed, ...stupid.

Those that aren't, are usually too few and too powerless to move the masses and their biases. They only get heard when the outcome is obvious and it's too late.

Another amazing fact is that the culprits never get punished by their victims. (how many bankers and climate change culprits are there on death row?) Also, that is unbelievably stupid.

The masses are Muppets. Muppets get played. Again and again and again. Perhaps it is their raison d'etre.
