Immigration is just postponing solving the real problem and making it even more difficult in the future. I realise my answer is not very woke, but no amount of wokeness can change the laws of thermodynamics.

The evolution of societies is all about creating more aggregate efficiency (Jeremy Rifkin — in communication, energy, transportation), freeing up time (Joseph Tainter), etc.

So the directionality for (good) solutions is very very clear.

In times of relative peace, doing more with less people forces innovation. It’s why the US economy (low density) overtook Europe and China’s (high density). As China is now run by engineers, not economists nor politicians. They understand these metrics. One child policy was painful but just look where their economy is now compared to resources and people rich India and Indonesia. Numbers dilute resources. In this logic — don’t give up on Russia quite yet. My guess is that they are quietly well on the bio-engineering track leading straight towards the future. Few people & very rich in resources. If you want to immigrate — that is where I’d put my bets on.
