Within that that hermetic logic, America will do everything it takes, (like setting up of the 2014 putsch in Ukraine and probably also involvement in the downing of MH17 to force the EU to enforce US-led sanctions) to break all European-Russian relations.

Because, as prof. Glenn Diesen explains, this threatens US unilateral hegemony and lays the foundation for a modern world, Westphalian like, order in favor of a balance of power among sovereign states.
