What I would like to contribute, is to please take a much closer look at the above sentence: "by the democratic process". Then take Charlie Munger's quip “Show me the incentive and I'll show you the outcome”. What he means is that a systems design will always define the outcome of the process put through it.

The democratic process is no different.

It's a system with a fixed outcome. It divides to rule, hence called majority rule. It is therefore inherently polarising and by design exclusive. And as its performance record shows, it rarely brings about the best solutions nor books the best results for humanity.

If the system is the cause then the system too is the solution. A way out of this current mess, forward to hopefully a better and much kinder future for all.
