Hall and Klitgaard point out in Energy and the Wealth of Nations: Understanding the Biophysical Economy, that the exponential growth (both in economical outputs and populations) shown after the turn of the 20th century correlates clearly to our use (aka depletion) of earth’s “cheap” stocks of fossil fuel energy.

So could it be that this climate change narrative simply comes in very handy to prepare and mobilize societies for this mass transition toward a different thermodynamical rationale?
