As a European, can't understand WHY.

1. We have enough historic sensibility to understand our nasty role in the fall of Gorbachev, the rise of Yeltsin, the consequent destruction of Russian society, and why the Russians, justifiably, still see Putin as their saviour. "Naomi Klein, in her remarkable work Shock Doctrine, describes how Russia was used as a laboratory by US free-market think tanks, gurus and economists, who descended on the country while still reeling from the shock of the implosion of the Soviet system in the early 1990s." >> https://johnwight1.medium.com/merkel-admits-minsk-ii-was-designed-to-buy-time-for-the-ukrainians-to-get-ready-for-conflict-with-504191f7872d

2. Since the fall of the wall and the disintegration of the Warshau pact, the Russian threat radically shrunk. Its economy is the size of Italy's. Its military expenditure (61.7 billion) is only 26,5% per cent of Europe's (232,8 billion) and a mere 7,7% of that of the US (801 billion). Nothing legitimises the continuation of NATO. Pascal Boniface * explains this in detail. (in French). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ik-UCJAEsL0

3. We know America's true imperialist nature. They don't even bother to hide it. https://www.rand.org/pubs/research_reports/RR3063.html When we can, like jackals, take Iraq's oil, we gladly scavenge the bones.

4. All smart leaders of Europe know that the future of Europe lies in Europe, even more so today as thermodynamically as we are moving towards an era of post-fossil fuel. In 58 former French president General De Gaulle's one Europe "from the Atlantic to the Ural", Gorbachev's "Common European Home, from Lisbon to Vladivostok" * and even today Macron and Putin repeat their words. And we know that the US will do all it can from this ever happening.

5. The EU bureaucracy is far too smart not to know that the sanctions against Russia would be ineffective against Russia and devastating for Europeans. Yet, regardless, they still went on to implement them.

So why do we accept that a tiny group surrounding Baroness Ursula von der Leyen doing their utmost best to destroy the European economy and harm all its inhabitants instead of leading the way to continental peace and prosperity?

What agenda am I not seeing?

Yes, I understand her pro-trans-Atlantic NATO-MIC supportive background as a former defence secretary. Yes, I understand that this embargo is good for pushing the EU "green" elitist corporate agenda full speed down the throat and at the expense of Europeans. I understand too that we are in the middle of a process of corporatist centralisation https://player.vimeo.com/video/769876604?h=81785b99a3

But the risk of a full-scale European political and societal implosion is immense. Is Von der Leyen simply that stupid? Are her clique just another power-hungry set of useful idiots? Are they banking on our complacency and passivity? Is that all there is to it? Is that banality of the big WHY?

I MUST be missing something...
